Sea Lions tend not to venture very far inland from the sea, but you will probably see them quite a bit further away than you would expect, while their method of moving on land is quite energetic, it is also effective in getting them moving. Why they choose to head further inland is not clear, maybe it gets them away from other seals and so maybe less flies, maybe they just want a change of scenery.
